This is a story about a little hedgehog (voice of Mariya Vinogradova) and his friend bear cub (voice of Vyacheslav Nevinniy). They would meet every evening to drink tea, count the stars and have conversations. One day, as usual, the hedgehog decided to bring raspberry marmelade. As he went to the bear to count the stars, he was already thinking what to talk about. While passing through the woods on the way to his friend, the hedgehog finds a horse standing in a fog. He is curious as to whether the horse would suffocate if it lay down in the fog. Being an explorer, the hedgehog decides to explore the fog.

Where did you read this note? I really would like the read what Gondry has to say about this film and Norsteins work in general! Btw anyone else more than me who likes the quality of this particular version of this cartoon? - its magnificent in all its raw, filmic vintage sepia-ness!
  3. MUSIDORA Says:
he usually gives a nod to russian animation... like in Science of Sleep when Stephanie turns on the faucet and blue celophane comes out....totally a russian stop motion thing, on purpose.
  4. MALLORY Says:
Indeed. Makes you kind of want to live in this place. I always wanted to get the music for it somehow, but surely that's a lost cause.
  5. Verel Says:
Oh wow! It reminded me of that video, but I didn't know it was an inspiration. =)

  8. Eferhard Says:
Yup! In notes that Michel Gondry had written, he'd stated that this film was his favorite, so it ended up inspiring the "Human Behaviour" video. I was reading his notes, and that's actually why I searched on YouTube for this flick. <=0P What a great find!
  9. SALMONEUS Says:
Did Michael Gondry take the video for "Bjork - Human Behavior" from this? Hmm... :)

I loved this video - didn't understand a word but loved it. Then, I think Andrei Tarkovsky is the geatest movie producer of all time, so not understanding it is part of the enjoyment of creating my own allegorical journey!
