Using the infrared camera in the Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar (two IR LEDs), you can accurately track the location of your head and render view dependent images on the screen. This effectively transforms your display into a portal to a virtual environment. The display properly reacts to head and body movement as if it were a real window creating a realistic illusion of depth and space. By Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University. January 5th, 2009 at 17:08:00 That is awesome. That's the next generation wii console right there. I don't know why nintendo couldn't have come up with that as part of the wii, it's a really simple concept.
January 5th, 2009 at 17:30:59 Super cool! Hope they will use it in games soon :)
January 5th, 2009 at 17:53:58 Awesome at 2.29
January 5th, 2009 at 18:16:57 True but maybe this that first step towards the holodeck lol
January 5th, 2009 at 18:39:56 idea.. what if you used the projector calibration technology to recognize faces somehow.. or maybe just a camera and some facial recognition software to see where your face is at all times, thus relieving one of the need for infrared 'headlights'? i'm definitely not the only one to think of this.. in the future i imagine our houses and public environments will recognize our faces everywhere at all times, and float holograms in front of us or beside us always. that will be cool.
January 5th, 2009 at 19:02:55 problem is you woudn't be able to run very far forward becuase you wuld just hit the tv screen.

January 5th, 2009 at 20:34:51 with bluetooth,it's quite easy if you pc has bluetooth built in or a bluetooth dongle you just connect as you would with the Wii. when you try connecting though make sure your wii is turned off.

January 5th, 2009 at 22:52:45 AMAZING. I have the Wii but I don't know how to connect it to my computer... maybe he should make a vid on tht. :D
January 5th, 2009 at 23:15:44 No. We still see the images on the screen move, as it moves according to the position of the IR lights. Its not like virtual glasses you dumb ass. Good job on the software by the way, I am going to try it right now =]

January 6th, 2009 at 00:24:41 This is actually just a lie to waste your time. He is being paid by youtube to make this video because it has over 6 million views. If he can actually see stuff in 3d, the camera wouldnt. therefore this is all a big lie and you are all suckers for believing it. Peace out from the Big Apple
January 6th, 2009 at 00:47:40 That is amazing!
January 6th, 2009 at 01:10:39 Imagine this being porn.

January 6th, 2009 at 02:19:36 I did it once a while ago using a wifi usb dongle, I just plugged in the usb, installed the software and it detected nearby wifi devices such as the wiimote (I dunno if you have to press the tracking button on it though to get it detected)
