This is an improvisational rhythmic composition in Persian classical music played on santoor by Pooyan Nassehpoor http://www.santoori.com and accompanied on tonbak by Peyman Nasehpour http://nasehpour.tripod.com/peyman The mode is in Dastgah Nava (very old modal system of Persian music). This video clip is a part of the concert of Nassehpoor Ensemble in February 2002 in Iranian Artist Forum (Khaneh ye Honarmandan). Similar hammaered-dulcimer instruments: yang chin (China), Santoor (India, Iraq, Egypt), Hackbrett (Germany), Santoori (Greece), Cimbalom (Hungaria) and so on... Similar goblet drums: darbuka, darbouka, doumbelek, dumbek, doumbek and zirbaghali.
