Tribute to the Protestants in the Irish Republican movement This song is about the United Irishmen rebellion in 1798 when Protestants and Catholics joined forces to try to free Ireland from British rule. Many Protestants throught the centuries have played important roles in the Republican movment, right from its foundation. The Orange in the Irish tricolour represents Protestants, they are just as Irish as anyone else on this island. The founding father of Irish Republicanism, Wolfe Tone was a Protestant. Pics also include some of the many protestant republicans and nationalist's throughout the centuries Pics of Protestant Republicans / nationalists (in order)- James Napper Tandy- United Irishmen Robert Erskine Childers- Sinn Féin Henry Joy McCracken- United Irishmen Theobald Wolfe Tone- United Irishmen (and founder of Irish republicanism) John Mitchell - Young Irelanders Charles Stewart Parnell - Irish Parlimentary Party Noel Lyttle- INLA Jack White - IRA George Plant- IRA Ronnie Bunting - INLA John Martin - Young Irelanders Lord Edward FitzGerald - United Irishmen Robert Emmet - United Irishmen The IRA had many protestant members. The IRA in Belfast had Protestant commanders nicknamed 'The Prod Squad' This included Billy Smith, Rex Thompson and John Graham. Jack White was another protestant IRA member from Broughshane, Co. Antrim who had previously founded the Irish Citizen Army. Erskine Childers was a protestant IRA member, as was George Plant and George Gilmore from Portadown. Bulmer Hobson from Holywood Co. Down was a leading member of the Irish Volunteers and IRB Protestants from the loyalist shankill road also were invloved in the Republican Congress in the 1930's. Ronnie Bunting was a protestant IRA member who went on to found the Irish National Liberation Army. Noel Lyttle was also a Protestant member of the INLA Sinn Féin have an protestant ex-orangeman, Billy Leonard who is elected in Coleraine, Co. Derry. In 1905 the Sinn Fein party was co-founded by Edward Martyn, who served as its first President. The Sam Maguire Cup, the biggest prize in Gaelic Football, is named after another famous protestant Irish Republican. Sam Maguire was the man who recruited Michael Collins into the IRB Protestant Men (Lyrics) It was back in history's page, the story's told of Napper Tandy brave and bold With his scarlet and green, he then was seen with his big long gun and his fighting men They did beat upon the drum, they fired their gun and shook the English establishment And the Lords and the Peers they then took fears and Grattan got his Parliament So here's to those brave Protestant Men Who gave their lives to free our land All the people they sang their praises then For the brave United Irishmen In Belfast town there lived a man and his name was Samuel Neilson A minister's son, Presbyterian, and the paper called the Northern Star There was Henry Joy, the Green Volunteers and Thomas Russell and McCabe and McTeir And to them was known a man Wolfe Tone and they formed the first United Men So here's to those brave Protestant Men Who gave their lives to free our land All the people they sang their praises then For the brave United Irishmen So your laws with dragons teeth and then you'll see you've sowed the seeds of bigotry Be Englands fool divide they'll rule so they set to break the United Men And they killed them in the fields and some in jail and some upon the Gallows high When Willie Orr did die his very last cry was "Unite and fight brave Irishmen" So here's to those brave Protestant Men Who gave their lives to free our land All the people they sang their praises then For the brave United Irishmen Cast dissensions to the wind let all men lend to the common name of an Irishman For across historys page to rant and rage men crossed the pails of bigotry There was the men of '98 no sadder fate, Lord Edward, Tone and the brothers Sheres It was Emmet's plea in 18 and 3 when he tried to set our country free So here's to those brave Protestant Men Who gave their lives to free our land All the people they sang their praises then For the brave United Irishmen

FiNews 12: Neil Babcox - Protestant Pastor becomes Catholic
Posted in: Videos | January 7th, 2009

Ave Maria! After being a Protestant Pastor for over 30 years, first in a nondenominational church and then in three Presbyterian churches, Neil Babcox makes the journey home to the Catholic Faith on the Solemnity of All Saints, November 1, 2006. While most Protestant converts find Catholic devotion to Our Lady an extremely difficult obstacle to becoming Catholic, for Neil it was just the opposite: Her irresistible tenderness drew him into the fullness of Christ's Church. Neil spent his first Easter with the Franciscans of the Immaculate and shared his story with AirMaria.com in two episodes. Watch Neil in this first episode as he shares how the Immaculate brought him home; he also was on EWTN, Marcus Grodi's The Journey Home on May 21st 2007 where Neil shared more of his story. Ave Maria!

Protestant Church of Avas (All Souls' Day)
Posted in: Videos | January 7th, 2009

Thousands of lights shine in memory... On the evening of November 2, 2005 the darkness was illuminated by thousands of candles at Mindszenti Cemetery . The event has become a tradition at the cemetery. Not only was each grave subtly lit with candles but also hundreds of other candles formed a giant cross that was a beautiful reminder of the purpose of this season. Within the chapel of the mausoleum, a brief service of remembrance was held. It is a comfort to know that the resting place of our loved ones is maintained with such reverence and dignity. *** *** *** *** *** *** In Western Christianity, All Souls' Day commemorates the faithful departed. In Hungary the day is known as Halottak Napja, "the day of the dead", which falls every year on November 2nd. Today is a national holiday in Hungary. Banks, government offices and most shops will be closed, while many restaurants, petrol stations and general stores will remain open - as will flower shops and cemeteries. An old belief held that no useful activities should be performed on November 2. Those who broke the rule were said to face unusual and grim punishments; their clothes would turn yellow, worms would grow in the walls of their homes, and their food would turn into poison. The more modern traditions related to the day in Hungary began forming in the 14th century, when a French custom of dedicating the day to prayer for the souls of the dead began spreading throughout the Catholic world. While in France and other areas of Western Europe the tradition came to include the bringing of flowers and other offerings to the graves of departed loved ones, in Germany, Hungary and other lands to the east the custom of lighting candles came to dominate. The candle has two purposes: to symbolize the eternal light departed beloved ones are said to live in - and to help lost souls find their way back to their resting place. Meanwhile, there is also a local tradition of decorating graves, which originates from the belief that nice surroundings will keep the dead from leaving the ground. Some brought bread, salt and water to graves for the same purpose. To apologize to angry souls, people living in Szeged and Erdély (Transylvania) used to bake a pastry called halottlepény ("dead pie"), which they gave away to the poor in front of cemeteries. It is also a tradition for Hungarians to visit the graves of relatives in lands lost to the nation after World War I, such as the now-Romanian region Erdély. For both the devout and the curious, the highlight of the two-day period is the eerily beautiful scenes found in cemeteries lit up by hundreds or thousands of candles. *** *** *** *** *** *** The Gothic Protestant Church of Avas is the oldest building in the downtown of the city of Miskolc, Northern Hungary. It was built in the 13th century as a small, Romanesque style church, and later it was expanded to a larger Gothic style church. The Protestant Church of Avas is a beautiful Gothic church on the Avas Hill, one of the oldest buildings of the city. In 16th century, during the Ottoman occupation of Hungary the Turks set the church on fire. Because it was already a Protestant church, the Catholic owner of the Diósgyőr estate, Borbála Fánchy, didn't give her permission to use the wood from the nearby forests to rebuild the church, and it was rebuilt only more than twenty years later. The church is surrounded by a cemetery, where many famous sons of the city were buried (the politicians Bertalan Szemere and László Palóczy, members of the Latabár actor dynasty).

One of the Seventh-day Adventist members has just started a series of videos on the Prophecy in Daniel. As he proceeds I will gladly point out the many mistakes he is going to make. Mistakes because he will use the same old recycled material others have used. It will be the sames dates and predictions from the failed predictions of William Miller and Ellen White.
