Jackie Mason 2009 Vlog #1. I've said time and time again in my vlogs here on YouTube, that no matter how many concessions Israel makes, no matter how many talks and conferences take place, and no matter how much the world condemns Israel, the Hamas and the other Muslims will not rest until Israel is wiped off the earth and every Jew is dead. With the violence going on now at this hour, how much longer can the world continue to blame Israel for defending herself. I am sick of saying it all the time, but I'll continue until the rest of this world realizes that Israel's enemies are propelled only by hate.
Valkyrie - Failed bomb plot to kill Hitler - Tom Cruise
Posted in: Videos | January 8th, 2009

Director Bryan Singer's account of a doomed German plot to assassinate Hitler opens with: Based on a True Story. That's often shorthand for Warning: Balderdash Ahead, so it's worth noting that Valkyrie respects the historical record. As the film portrays, a coup attempt was organized by a band of German officers and civilians sickened by the murderous Third Reich. Initially led by a general (Kenneth Branagh), the conspiracy's leadership passed to an aristocratic colonel, Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise). Twice, Stauffenberg smuggled a bomb into military conferences attended by Hitler. Once, the dictator left the meeting before the charge could be detonated. But on July 20, 1944, Stauffenberg placed his lethal package near Hitler, then walked out of the room. The ensuing explosion killed four, but not the dictator. For a few tense hours, though, the schemers believed they had succeeded and that command of the German armed forces and the Reich itself was theirs for the taking. Valkyrie portrays this accurately and with visual style, but without a shred of credibility. Cruise is part of the problem scratch that, he's most of the problem. His Stauffenberg is a 24/7 marvel of iron determination, jut-jawed certitude and immaculate tailoring. (He lost an eye, a hand and part of the other hand in 1942, when strafed by Allied planes in North Africa. When Singer zooms in on the unconscious officer lying in the desert sand, Cruise's face is bloodied, but his coiffure is perfect.) As performances go, this one is as shaded as his solid black eye patch. Watching Cruise, you wonder why anyone including several superior officers follows this humorless stick. But only Gen. Olbricht (Bill Nighy, superb as a timid man struggling to quash his doubts) wavers, and his hesitation has ruinous consequences. Stauffenberg, though, was also a victim of his own judgment. When reports trickle into Berlin that Hitler had survived the bombing, Stauffenberg is adamant. I saw the blast, he insists. I saw the blast. So the conspirators rush forward, to their doom. Singer doesn't shrink from showing us their fate, and some of the best scenes illustrate the conspiracy unraveling with tragic speed. At one point, a German communications officer brings his supervisor two orders. One is from conspirators, demanding the arrest of SS chief Heinrich Himmler; the other is from the SS, to arrest Stauffenberg. The solution? Obey both. Ours is not to interpret orders, the supervisor argues with perfect Nazi logic. Unfortunately, Valkyrie turns a blind eye to other baffling questions. From North Africa to Berlin, Stauffenberg advertises his desire to rid Germany of Hitler. Why didn't the SS stop him? In the washroom of a crowded cabaret, Stauffenberg screams details of the plot to another conspirator. Why didn't the SS, etc. Before entering a bunker to blow up Hitler, Stauffenberg takes off his eye patch and pops a glass eye into his socket. Wouldn't someone the ever-present SS, say notice that Stauffenberg is acting a mite peculiar? Stauffenberg, the historic figure, staked his life in an ill-fated gamble against a monstrous regime. He's a hero. Stauffenberg, the Valkyrie character, is so convinced of success, he doesn't recognize the stakes. That makes him a well-intentioned fool and an irritating companion for two hours. http://www.blacktree.tv

Coleman Campaign Admits Finally (sort of) That We Are Media
Posted in: Videos | January 8th, 2009

more at http://www.theuptake.org Coleman Campaign Admits Finally (sort of) That We Are Media When you call a press conference, it is usually to disseminate information. Not so with the Norm Coleman campaign this election season. The Coleman campaign has repeatedly denied The UpTake and other independent media access to its press conferences when they are held at the campaign's headquarters. But when the press conference is held in a public building such as the State Office Building as it was on Tuesday, the Coleman campaign has no authority to deny anyone access. So Coleman spokesperson Mark Drake came up with another way to either prevent us from asking questions or perhaps protect the campaign from answering them. He refused to give The UpTake's Mike McIntee a copy of the lawsuit because we "have an axe to grind". Drake offered no evidence of that. That led to some interesting moments during the press conference and finally the Coleman campaign admitting (sort of) that The UpTake is a "legitimate" media organization with a "very fair" reporter.

Celtics vs. Bobcats 1/6/09 GAME RECAP (Celtics Loose) (overtime)
Posted in: Videos | January 8th, 2009

Raymond Felton scores 25 points and records 8 assists as the Bobcats defeat the Celtics 114-106 in overtime. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)—After 19 straight wins and an NBA record 27-2 start, the Boston Celtics have lost that swagger. The lockdown defense and the poise are missing, too, as teams line up to get a shot at the defending champions. On Tuesday, it was the lowly Charlotte Bobcats, as Raymond Felton scored 25 points and rookie D.J. Augustin added 11 of his 20 in overtime in a stunning 114-106 win that sent the Celtics to their fifth loss in seven games. Going from unbeatable to vulnerable in less than two weeks, the Celtics were searching for answers after being left battered, bruised and angry by Larry Browns upstart Bobcats. We told our team before the season it will be 82 Game 7s. Every time we play its a Game 7 for the other team, coach Doc Rivers said. On the nights were not ready mentally for that, were going to have to get lucky and play over our head to win. It didnt happen against Charlotte, and there was plenty of blame to go around. Paul Pierce scored 28 points, but had a key turnover in overtime. Ray Allen scored 20 points, but shot 7-for-20. Rajon Rondo committed nine turnovers. Kevin Garnett had 14 points and 13 rebounds, but shot only 7-of-18 and was called for traveling in Charlottes decisive spurt. And the NBAs worst offensive team had its second-best scoring night of the season. Gerald Wallace chipped in with 23 points, but it was Augustin who hit a 3-pointer and two free throws in a 7-0 run that put Charlotte ahead 108-101. Augustin even talked some trash at the champs expense. They come in and intimidate you and try to punk you, Augustin said. But if you dont back down from them, they kind of fold. That would have been laughable before Boston visited the Lakers on Christmas. But Boston was frustrated again at key times. After Pierce dribbled the ball out of bounds with Charlotte leading by five in the final minute of OT, Pierce gave Augustin a slight shove, as the turnover ended Bostons chances in a physical game that saw the Celtics continue their surprising struggles against one of the Eastern Conferences worst teams. The Bobcats, despite entering with a 44-72 record over the past two seasons, won in Boston last season. They lost on Allens buzzer-beater in another game, and dropped a close contest in the first meeting this season in November. Tuesday was another thriller, as the Celtics rallied from a 10-point, third-quarter deficit, took 79-72 lead in the fourth quarter, then allowed the Bobcats to get back in it. Feltons fadeaway with 38 seconds left in regulation put Charlotte ahead 96-95. After Allen missed a jumper, Felton was fouled and hit only one free throw with 20 seconds left. Pierce then dribbled off a screen and drilled a turnaround jumper with 3.4 seconds left to tie it. Felton missed a straightaway 20-footer at the buzzer to force OT. But the Bobcats dominated the extra period, despite playing again without Raja Bell (groin), getting five straight defensive stops to pick up one of Browns biggest wins since taking over his record ninth NBA team. The one thing I always remember is when youre a good team, every team you play against is trying to bring their best game, Brown said. Thats a pretty special group that Boston has. Weve got to learn to bring it every night like that and not just against Boston. Charlotte Bobcats guard D.J. Augustin (14) passes the ball around Boston Celtics guard Paul Pierce (34) during the first half of the Bobcats' 114-106 overtime win in an NBA basketball game in Charlotte, N.C., Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009. Poznan press briefing on the final day of the Conference
Posted in: Videos | January 8th, 2009

Briefing the media at the end of the two-week Conference, Yvo de Boer said that the main goal of delivering practical results on the road to Copenhagen had been achieved. Parties had agreed on a work programme for 2009 that would lead to intensified negotiations. The Conference had also played an important role, he underlined, in pushing forward the European Union package on climate and energy. Of critical importance to developing countries was the launch of the Adaptation Fund. Parties agreed that the Fund would be a legal entity granting direct access to developing countries. Significant progress was also made on a number of issues, including reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD). Conceding that there was some bitterness that it had not been possible to raise additonal funding for Adaptation, Mr. de Boer said this indicated a change in mood, where countries were getting down to serious negotiations for an agreement in Copenhagen A key event at the Conference was a ministerial round table on a shared vision on long-term cooperative action on climate change, where Ministers gave political direction on how to move together towards an agreed outcome in Copenhagen.

The four parts are related one to another: the Christian mystery is the object of faith (first part); it is celebrated and communicated in liturgical actions (second part); it is present to enlighten and sustain the children of God in their actions (third part); it is the basis for our prayer, the privileged expression of which is the Our Father, and it represents the object of our supplication, our praise and our intercession (fourth part). The Liturgy itself is prayer; the confession of faith finds its proper place in the celebration of worship. Grace, the fruit of the sacraments, is the irreplaceable condition for Christian living, just as participation in the Church's Liturgy requires faith. If faith is not expressed in works, it is dead (cf. Jas 2:14-16) and cannot bear fruit unto eternal life. In reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church we can perceive the wonderful unity of the mystery of God, his saving will, as well as the central place of Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, sent by the Father, made man in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit, to be our Saviour. Having died and risen, Christ is always present in his Church, especially in the sacraments; he is the source of our faith, the model of Christian conduct and the Teacher of our prayer. 3. The Doctrinal Value of the Text The Catechism of the Catholic Church, which I approved 25 June last and the publication of which I today order by virtue of my Apostolic Authority, is a statement of the Church's faith and of catholic doctrine, attested to or illumined by Sacred Scripture, the Apostolic Tradition and the Church's Magisterium. I declare it to be a sure norm for teaching the faith and thus a valid and legitimate instrument for ecclesial communion. May it serve the renewal to which the Holy Spirit ceaselessly calls the Church of God, the Body of Christ, on her pilgrimage to the undiminished light of the Kingdom! The approval and publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church represent a service which the Successor of Peter wishes to offer to the Holy Catholic Church, to all the particular Churches in peace and communion with the Apostolic See: the service, that is, of supporting and confirming the faith of all the Lord Jesus' disciples (cf. Lk 22:32 as well as of strengthening the bonds of unity in the same apostolic faith. Therefore, I ask all the Church's Pastors and the Christian faithful to receive this catechism in a spirit of communion and to use it assiduously in fulfilling their mission of proclaiming the faith and calling people to the Gospel life. This catechism is given to them that it may be a sure and authentic reference text for teaching catholic doctrine and particularly for preparing local catechisms. It is also offered to all the faithful who wish to deepen their knowledge of the unfathomable riches of salvation (cf. Eph 3:8). It is meant to support ecumenical efforts that are moved by the holy desire for the unity of all Christians, showing carefully the content and wondrous harmony of the catholic faith. The Catechism of the Catholic Church, lastly, is offered to every individual who asks us to give an account of the hope that is in us (cf. I Pt 3:15) and who wants to know what the Catholic Church believes. This catechism is not intended to replace the local catechisms duly approved by the ecclesiastical authorities, the diocesan Bishops and the Episcopal Conferences, especially if they have been approved by the Apostolic See. It is meant to encourage and assist in the writing of new local catechisms, which take into account various situations and cultures, while carefully preserving the unity of faith and fidelity to catholic doctrine. At the conclusion of this document presenting the Catechism of the Catholic Church, I beseech the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Incarnate Word and Mother of the Church, to support with her powerful intercession the catechetical work of the entire Church on every level, at this time when she is called to a new effort of evangelization. May the light of the true faith free humanity from the ignorance and slavery of sin in order to lead it to the only freedom worthy of the name (cf. Jn 8:32): that of life in Jesus Christ under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, here below and in the Kingdom of heaven, in the fullness of the blessed vision of God face to face (cf. I Cor 13:12; 2 Cor 5:6-8)! Given 11 October 1992, the thirtieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, in the fourteenth year of my Pontificate.
